Dear Auntie Nicky,
Thank you so much for being part of my life, especially as a young girl. I remember how fantastic it was coming to stay with you at the farm at Easter-time. You always looked so glamorous in your soft roll-neck jumpers, and I recall well your perfumed kisses and distinctive encouraging voice: 'That's great, Wend', you would say with a sparkling smile. You helped me have confidence in myself as I was growing up as a teenager, since I was quite a shy young person. You boldly took me for my first driving lesson and had my ears pierced (both without my mum's approval!). After I went to university and things changed in our lives, we lost touch. But I always thought of you and my cousins, and caught up on your news via Mum. It is great to see these photos of you as a gracious older lady, still exuding playfulness and spirit. I'm sorry for the gap in time and am sad I didn't get to share my adult life with you. I'm so grateful to have these photos to download (thanks, David) and place in my album here in Austria for me to remember you by. The photo of you in blue from c.1990 is exactly as I remember you and remains so - my memory of you that I've carried all these past years. Trusting that you are now at peace, with all my love, your niece Wendy xx
